Tour Guide at University of New Haven
Class of 2021
Hometown: Ludlow, MA
Major: Dental Hygiene
The Beckerman Recreation Center (rec-center) is my favorite place on campus. I typically use this facility for the workout spaces that contain a wide variety of machines and free weights, but there is more to be enjoyed here! There are private rooms where group Zumba and spinning classes often take place, as well as an indoor track that circles around the top of our very own basketball court! This court can be used for pick up games, volleyball, or any other activities you may want to enjoy in an open space. After an intense workout session, don't forget to stop by NrGize, a smoothie bar, where you can get a protein-rich smoothie to start recovery!
After taking my first few steps on-campus, I immediately knew this was the school for me. Since we are a smaller student body, I knew I would be getting more one-on-one time with my professors. I always worried about only being a number, but here at the University of New Haven, it is almost impossible not to be known by your faculty. In each of our programs, we have professors who have spent many years in each of their fields and can provide you with real-life practical experience. In my program specifically, we have staff members who are Board Certified Examiners, which means although they cannot give you the licensing exams, you will be getting the first-hand experience to ensure you are fully prepared!
As a dental hygiene major, it is no surprise my favorite class is clinic. The university has our very own fully functional dental center right on campus. This is where anyone, including students and faculty, can come to get their teeth cleaned by our student hygienists! Newly renovated within the last two years, the dental center is constantly changing and becoming more advanced with its technology and I am so excited to see what additions we make moving forward!
