Tour Guide at University of New Haven
Class of 2021
Hometown: Ludlow, MA
Major: Dental Hygiene
The Beckerman Recreation Center is my favorite place on campus because it gives me a place to escape from my academic life, relieving my stress in a healthy and positive way. I typically use this facility for the workout spaces, such as various weight and lifting machines, the stairs, treadmills, and ellipticals. We also have GroupX programs that come out monthly which include group Zumba, yoga, and spinning classes that are free to all students! In the Rec-Center, we also have NrGize, a smoothie bar, where you can get a nice refreshment after killing a workout!
After taking my first few steps on-campus at the University of New Haven, I immediately knew this was the school for me. It was a smaller campus, with a big campus feel and I felt at home here! The professors in my program specifically, all are National Boards Certified, and it was very reassuring knowing that I would be getting a lot of clinical experience and first-hand preparation for my career right off the bat! We have our very own Dental Center on campus, where I will be treating patients of the public, students/ faculty at the University, and friends/ family! You cannot beat, real life experience, with outstanding professors who are preparing you for the road ahead!
As a Dental Hygiene Major, I take a clinical course with my curriculum. In saying this, I spend two days of the week in our very own dental clinic, right here on campus. Being right across the street, is extremely convenient for me, especially since it is within walking distance from everything main campus has to offer. Our clinic was newly renovated for this year, introducing a brand new materials laboratory. This is where students will get hands-on experience in a real dental setting. We get to practice on one another, University students and faculty, family/friends, and people from outside communities. I have the most fun in this course because it is the first-hand experience of what I want to be doing for the rest of my life!
