Tour Guide at University of New Haven
Class of 2020
Hometown: Meriden, CT
I chose the University of New Haven because of how it made me feel as soon as I stepped on campus. I was amazed at how inviting, caring, and energetic the students and staff were, as well as their eagerness to help guide you through campus. The size of the campus added to the inclusiveness because everyone seemed to know each other and was very happy to be around people. I enjoyed knowing that my class sizes would be smaller, and I would have experiential learning, where I would take what I learned in class and apply it to real life activities, research, and internships.
My favorite class is Social Media Marketing. Being a Marketing major, I love everything about designing, branding, and social media; however, this class stuck out to me because our assignment was to create a marketing plan for a non-profit organization. We were able to work closely with a local organization to help their use of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to increase donations and volunteers. It taught me the importance of branding and interpersonal relationships, and I am excited for the classes I'm taking next!
My favorite place on campus is the Charger Cafe, which is located in the Library. I love this spot because not only is it a great place to get work done with the convenience of printers and outlets near by, but also it is also perfect for seeing a large amount of our campus. The windows near the seating area are positioned perfectly to see four main buildings on campus, as well as heavy foot traffic and students studying outside. This area is a great place for homework and being with friends.
